Alternative Title
Hundley, Alexander S., 1838-
Description
A Tennessee Union veteran, Alexander S. Hundley came to Fort Benton in the 1860's and served as a trapper and freighter. He married widow Mrs. Francoise Gasia and moved to the Countryman area west of Columbus in 1877, where they homesteaded an Indian allotment. He lived with his stepdaughter Abbie Lande during his later years, according to They Gazed upon the Beartooths. In the marriage records of Montana, he is shown as marrying five times: first to Elizabeth Gasia sometime after 1877, next to Nettie Bratt in 1884, then to Ida Nagle in 1893, to Jennie McDaniel in 1897 (he divorced Nagle), and finally to Marietta Breckinridge Pitts in 1915.
