Born May 28, 1857 in Bremen, Germany. Arrived in Montana as a soldier on July 10, 1876 at the scene of the Custer Battlefield - See Yellowstone Man Helped Bury Victims, Billings Gazette, August 3, 1924, p.5. Served in the US Cavalry from 1876-1891. Traveled with engineer and guard for railroad survey crews. Yellowstone County farmer (Lockwood District). Six children as of 1924. Died February, 1935 and is buried at Mountview Cemetery - See Death Claims Indian War Vet, Billings Gazette, February 17, 1935.
