Brother of Paul, Hugh, John, Frank, Robert and Alphorns McCormick. James and Robert, both older than Paul, came to Montana in 1864 by ox team. James settled near Virginia City and then the Gallatin Valley. James and Paul then settled at Junction City and James was married to Mary Jane O'Hara by that time - See Old McCormick Home in Junction City, Billings Gazette, December 4, 1932, p. 8. James was Deputy Sheriff of Junction after 1890. He died in 1922. Mary Jane O'Hara McCormick's death was in the paper on August 2, 1924. The McCormicks were all Catholic.
