Born in September 1850 in Ohio. Billings pioneer merchant and businessman listed as 'Clothier and Famous Outfitter.' His partner and brother in Livingston, William, was drugged, robbed and killed in Chicago in May of 1890 - Chicago creditors had closed the store in March, 1890. Instrumental in formation of the Billings Polytechnic Institute (now Rocky Mountain College) and Losekamp Memorial Hall named for him - See Billings Polytechnic Institute, Billings Gazette, June 4, 1933. Served in the state legislature and Billings City Council. Listed as Mayor John D. Losekamp from January 1893 - April 1893. Losekamp block across the street from the original Parmly Billings Library. His sister Florence married Billings' businessman John R. Yates in 1907. A fisherman, he stocked many Beartooth Lakes - Losekamp, Colorful Figure of Early Days, Stocked Lakes, Billings Gazette, August 18, 1935.
