In 1886 he was appointed superintendent of schools by Governor Sam Hauser of the territory of Montana. Mr. Logan was married (first) at Bismarck, North Dakota, in 1884, to Miss Grace Southmayd, who was born at Columbus, Wisconsin, and she died April 2, 1892. On June 17 (or April), 1893, Mr. Logan married the sister of his first wife, Miss Bessie Southmayd, also a native of Wisconsin - History of Montana by Sanders. Arthur Charles Logan, a noted Shriner, with his sons Tom, Dick and Harry formed the Logan Children's Orchestra / Logan Orchestra - See Tales of the Town, Billings Gazette, January 6, 1933, p.7. Bessie (Southmaid?) Logan and the kids studied at the Chicago College of Music. Logan was a stockman. Mr. and Mrs. Logan were members of the Episcopal Church. He died November, 1916 and is buried at Mountview Cemetery.
