Sam Clare came to Billings in 1901 with his sister HA Clare and ran an apartment house on North 31st. Listed as a farmer in Laurel. See Cancer Claims Laurel Farmer, Billings Gazette, January 20, 1944, p.6. Married Lotte Amer in Glens Falls NY in 1902 and returned to Billings. Sister is referenced in 1948 as Dr. Hattie Ann Clare of Lewiston, Idaho. September 15, 1953 reference to a Sam Clare bridge (steel span built in 1932) near Laurel over the Clark Fork. Lived on Claremont Ranch. Sam died January 19, 1944.
