1974 Early Flathead Lake/Flathead Valley Promotional Materials
Montana--[Lake County]; Polson (Mont.); Flathead Indian Reservation (Mont.); Museum exhibits
During the Homestead Era, promotional materials stirred interest in would-be farmers, ranchers, business owners, and tourists. Col. A. A. White purchased numerous villa sites and advertised them for re-sale. He arranged steamboat and auto tours for prospective purchasers. Some properties were sold, but after 1921 many of the villa sites were acquired through tax sales. The original top photo was taken by Herman Schnitzmeyer.
