She will also receive a banner, trophy, cash award, and an all-expense paid vacation to Hawaii in August of 1987 at the Sheraton on Waikikl Beach where she will compete for the national title of Miss American Co-Ed of 1988. At the state pageant, in addition to the overall competition, there will be several optional competitions: falent, speech, modeling, ^wimwear and academic achievement. Other awards will also include: Miss Photogenic, Miss Personality, and Miss Co-Ed American Hostess. Shannon is a junior at Poplar High School and is being sponsored by Dallas Aero, wally's Grocery, Sun Rise Lumber, Old Ray, Kate's Hair Care, her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. CRUVIESTOPPER BENEFIT DANCE TICKETS ON SALE Ona Vee Sage, Traders State Bank, buys the first Crimestopper tickets from Sheriff John Grainger. Jeff Ruffatto, a member of the Crimestopper County Committee holds the Benefit Dance Posters. Crimestoppers may be considered a nation-wide program that is most worthy of donations from anyone, in any amount, at any time. At the present time our local Roosevelt County Crimestoppers organization is asking for much needed contributions. The board members of this organization donate their time and concern for the residents of the area. It has been proven by the recovery of many items Miss Shannon Frantzick, daughter of Leon and Sue Frantzick, has been accepted as a state finalist in the Montana Co-Ed Pageant to be held May 15, 16, & 17th at the Sheraton Hotel in Missoula, Montana. The pageant theme is: "Youth...Pride of the Present....Hope for the Future." State finalists will be judged on poise, personality, stage appearance, and personal interview. The winner will be crowned Miss Montana Amer- POPLAR YMCA On Thursday, April 23rd at 7 p.m. at the Fort Peck Community College, a repieseritative from Dupree, SD will be Agent Orange Former members of First Air Calvary 2nd BN/8th Cav A, B, C, D COMPANIES who served in Viet Nam from January 1969 - December 1969 are asked to contact: New Jersey Agent Orange Commission, Broad Street Bank Building, 10th floor, 143 East Street, Trenton, NJ 08608 Submitted by : Mike Bnyd Post ii 61 TO MEET present for the organization of the Poplar YMCA. Please come and bring a friend. for the victims of robberies that the system works. The Crime-stoppers are concerned with type of crime as well as stolen articles. The request is that if anyone has information about a crime, they make a call to 653-2811 and give that information. You need not give your name and your call is not traced. You could be eligible for a cash reward of up to a $1000 (or any part thereof) for the DRUG & CRIME SLIDES TO BE SHOWN The Roosevelt County Sheriff's Department will be showing slides on "Drugs & Crime" at the Poplar Chamber of Commerce meeting at 7 p.m., Thursday, Apiil 28th at the Legion Club. Sheriff Grainger says these slides are available from the Sheriff's Office for any group wishing to show them. There is no charge. information leading to an arrest or arraignment of the person or persons responsible for the crime. Locally there is a Benefit Dance scheduled for June 6, 1987 at the Legion Club in Poplar to help replenish the Reward account. The dance is sponsored by the wolf Point, Poplar and Culbertson Chamber of Commerce organizations. Sheriff John Grainger tells us that Crimestop- pers has been operating in this area since 1983. within that time 122 calls have been received and 90 of those callers have been rewarded from $20 to $400. Anyone wishing to donate to Crimestoppers may call Clark Johnson, Western National Bank, Wolf Point or Jeff Ruffatto, Traders State Bank of Poplar. Any amount would be appreciated and will go directly to the Reward Fund. I. The City of Poplar will be flushing hydrants on Friday, April 24. POPLAR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS TAKE OATH NAMED TO ALL STATE BASKETBALL TEAM Felix McGowan a junior at Poplar High School was named as one of the olavers on the Class B All-State Basketball team from Eastern B division. Bryce Redgrave of Wolf Point and Tyler Will of Plentywood were also chosen from Eastern B. Other players from around the state chosen for Class B All-State Basketball were: Rod Kastelitz and Kraig Abbey, Shepherd; Jim Fraley and Dan Janney, Deer Lodge; Colby Sten-erson, Conrad; Sean Morgan, Browning; Bill Durocher, Choteau; Jim Sands, Simms; Huck Seeds and Shawn Wetzel, Corvallis; Chris Hansen, Missoula Loyola; and Bill Pilgerarn and Rory Hellickson, Plains. MOTHERS DAY PLANS School clerk Yvonne Shields issues oath to newly elected school board members John Atchico and George Budak at the School Board Meeting last Monday evening at the regular school board meeting. Raffle tickets are now on sale for 3 Black Hills gold necklaces to be given away May 9th in front of the Poplar Shopper. Winners will be announced over the loud speaker. The necklace raffle sponsored by the Poplar Merchants Committee ties in with the Mothers' Day Special Sale at the various business places on Saturday, May 9th.
