All the youth who participated are noted; particularly the two members of Poplar School Band who added so much to the parade Saturday are cited; we look for more youth entries next year. Wasn't that nice to see some of the Girl Scouts in the Parade. Honorablemention to the Poplar Parton Sisters is noted. Do come back next year!! Special mention to Henke siB3Boa hhfig Construction, A & S Industries, Wind Shield, and Early American Contracting (Al Long, Hoff Family, Mr President). Cited for Cowgirl entry was: 1.) ilkk Becky Lemen , and Cowboy: 1.) Chunky Eder. The Poplar Saddle Club entry again was super. Thanks to everyone who brought their horses, gear and equipment, and took time to parade both days. Next year, we hope to have Sunday's parade later to make it easier for additional entries to enter, and help those from out of town to come in for the parade. A special note to the Hi Line Shnners from the Al Bedu Shrine for their support this year, and to the R.S.V.P. Bandfor their entertainment. A special thanks to the many, many volunteers who helped make the activities this year work. The activities of Wild West Days for the stands, Rodeo, Parade and contests would have been impossible without the many volunteers. Let's all pull together and make the activity even more successful next year!! This is a community event for Poplar and surrounding communities. It comes, but once a year......but this year was exceptional. WILD WEST DAYS RODEO '83 SI INSCRIPTION RATI $8.00 PER YEAR BULK RATE f U.S. POSTAGE POPLAR, MT. PERMIT lit JUNE 23,1983 4 ~~ 3*0 contestants participated in this years Wild West Days Rodeo with prize money awarded amounting to over $15,000. NDRA and NRA cowboys and cowgirls had a great time, and this years rodeo was one of the Club's best! Attendance was great. The Poplar Saddle Club deserves all our thanks for a job well done. There is a lot of work done prior to any event such as Wild West Days. The unsung hero, if any, are the many "volunteers" who helped make the event a success. Thank You! This was a special weekend. There was many visitors in town, there was the parade, the music (RSVP Band), Betty and the nurses taking blood pressure, the beautiful baby contest, Kids Day, the hard workers at the Chamber's hamburger stand, the Kar Klub Show, and the major event, "Wild West Rodeo," was perhaps one of the best---- if not the best yet. Thanks everyone!!! Equally important was the interest of our people and the time many community businesses, West Electronics and Montana's largest Industry, took in participating in the community event. Then think about all the work, time, and energy with the riders and horses, the determination of the Poplar Saddle Club, Poplar Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, and the Poplar Kiwanis Club along with many volunteers it took to make the weekend an exciting one. Kids DayWow!! This was a time enjoyed by all. Look at the work Poplar's Community Hospital and Nursing Home undertook to participate. It was so nice to see the older folks on the float. The Poplar pride was there. The two members of the Poplar school band who led the parade were super! Also, the Girl Scouts, who cared enough to participate, the Chamber men who perhaps didn't sleep-working at the stand, getting supplies, planning and doing, hoping to raise money for other eventswere just great! The police force(s) cooperating and working together, the Shriners coming from AL BEDU Temple, KVCK on site with Bob and Tim, and Steve on the Emergency phone after the P.A. system failed to get fixed on time, all did a very fine job. Yes, Poplar and its people can be proud of last weekend and that weekend gave us all a "needed shot in the arm." Yes, Poplar pride is alive!!!
