PERMIT �h si Hs> Kir I k>N K \TI SS.Vi IM K N C VK March 17, 1983 Eight excellent basketball teams will see action at the Mike Huss Scholarship Tournament March 18, 19 & 20 in the Poplar High School gym.| This is the 6th year the Poplar Education Association has sponsored the tournament with proceeds designated for scholarships to P.H.S. graduates. This could be the best year yet for avid basketball fans as all eight teams have very impressive rosters. The tournament will open Friday with Poplar's Moe Chevrolet sponsored team meeting the Great Plains Indians of Vermillion, S.D. at 7:00 p.m. The second evening game will be between Lucky's Beer Parlor of Billings and Will's Office World of Wolf Point. The first round will be completed Saturday morning with defending champion Murphy Insurance of Bismarck meeting Mutual of Omaha Insurance of Billings at 9:00 a.m. The second morning game will see Wally's/ American Legion of Poplar versus 3.O. Motor lnn/M.1. Bar/ Modern Music/ Custom Steel Product and Grayson Insurance of Wolf Point, Scobey and Billings. The semi-finals are scheduled for 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Loser-out games are set for 1:00 and 2:30 on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The Moe Chevrolet club roster includes Brent and Garth Kallevig, Sherwood Larson, Mike Woodman and Tom Pal-adichuk. This team took 2nd place in last year's tourney. The Great Plains Indians include players from South Dakota State--Barry Glanzer, Dave Pocknett, Wayne Britt-enhorn, Tex, Steve and Ken Hall, and Steve Withorne. This team took 3rd place in last year's tournament. Lucky's Beer Parlor of Billings roster includes Mike ."Jordan, Jerry Blade, Scott Dig hans, Dennis and Craig Guen-ther. The Will's Office World sponsored team is made up of players from North Dakota MUSIC STUDENTS i : A � J Front (L to R) Romee Trottier, Sharon Cusker, Jennifer Dupree, Sharyl Kirn, Shannon Hopkins, Rhonda Bruggeman. Second Row: Felix Gilbertson, Kevin Hempel, Tamie Craig, Nanette Nelson, Deanna O'Brien, Becky Leinen, Vearlene Denny, Brenda Strauser. Third Row: Rob Bauer, Virgil Smith, Roberto Patina, Darwin Bridges, Tracy O'Connor, Willie Ricker, Bill Prichard, Fourth Row: Danelle Red Boy, Lucinda Standing Bear, Dawn Summers, Geoff Hagadone, Shawn Loegering, Ross Martin. Rack Erik Rergh, Director. State University and Remidji State of Minnesota. Willie Rrown and Werner Huss are familiar names to the tournament and are included in the roster. The defending champions, Murphy Insurance of Bismarck, return with virtually the same roster as last year, including Aaron Harris, Todd Bakken, Rich Bernhardt and Evan Lips all former players for the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. Rocky Mountain College players Brad and Bruce lensen, Kip Harcharik and Montana State's Rod Smith round out the roster for Mutual of Omaha in Billings. Wally's/ American Legion sponsored team is composed of coaches familiar to basketball fans in northeastern Montana. Poplar's Tim And- erson, Rod Harris and Dave Laitinen will be teamed up with Paul Rarta, Rob Mr -Donald, .left Hibbcrt and Bruce Smith. .I.O. Motor Inn/ M..1. Rar/ Modern Musu /Custom Steel Products and Grayson Insurance will be bringing in some new faces with Rig Sky Conference players Rryan Keller-man and Phil Hobson from the University of Idaho, Greg Palm and Rill Allen from the Univeristy of Nevada at Reno; and Hall Robinson from New Mexico State. This will be a great time for basketball fans, so be in the Poplar High School gym next weekend! The service will be held in the First Presbyterian Church, 217 C Street West, Poplar. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. More information about the details of the service will be available in next week's Shopper, or you may consult with any member of the Ministerial Assn.
